SSD repair at component level — no data recovery prices

Your SSD suddenly vanished from the BIOS, shows 0 MB, or runs scorching hot. Before you accept a €300–€800 “data recovery” invoice: in nine out of ten cases the fault is in the PCB electronics — a shorted capacitor on the 3.3 V rail, a blown fuse, a failed PMIC. The NAND chips holding your data are fine.

We measure, locate the fault and replace the broken component under the microscope — typically from €55. Your drive stays your drive, with all your data on it. Serving the Brainport region (Eindhoven, Veldhoven, ASML area) and the whole of the Netherlands by post.

Typical SSD faults we repair

01 Invisible in BIOS / 0 MB

The drive no longer appears in the boot list or reports 0 MB. Almost always a short circuit or blown fuse on the power rail — the controller gets no voltage and simply never checks in.

02 Running extremely hot / burning smell

A drive that heats up the moment it gets power points to a shorted ceramic capacitor or failed TVS diode. Disconnect it immediately — powering it further can damage the drive's voltage regulation for good.

03 Dropping out under load

System freezes, half-empty files, the drive disappearing under load. Often a loose connector, cracked solder joint or a developing power fault — measurable and repairable.

04 After a power surge or wrong PSU

Reversed adapter, unregulated USB power, lightning: the input protection (fuse + TVS diode) sacrificed itself. That is literally its job — and those parts are replaceable.

[CMP-01] // Repair versus data recovery

We fix the cause — no lab required

PCBFIX — electronic repair

Fault on the PCB

  • Short circuit on the 3.3 V / 5 V rail (ceramic capacitor)
  • Blown fuse or TVS diode
  • Defective PMIC voltage regulator
  • Broken SATA / M.2 connector, damaged pads
  • Cracked traces — jumper-wire repair under the microscope

Cost: diagnosis €35 (credited) + repair €55–€110. Your data stays untouched on the drive.

Data recovery lab — only when truly needed

Fault in controller or NAND itself

  • Firmware corruption without an electronic cause
  • Physically cracked or burned memory chips
  • Extensive controller failure with data loss

Cost: €300–€800+. Fair is fair: if the fault sits here, we refer you honestly — and you pay €0 with us. No cure, no pay.

[FAQ-SSD] // Frequently asked questions

Answers first, then send it in

Will I lose my data during the repair?▸

No. We work exclusively on the electronics around the memory chips. The NAND chips with your data are never removed, read or altered. After the repair your drive boots straight back into your system exactly as you left it.

Why repair instead of paying for data recovery?▸

Recovery labs exist for logical and physical data extraction — and charge accordingly. If your fault is electronic, which is by far the most common reason a drive disappears, replacing a single component brings the whole drive back. If the fault turns out not to be electronic, we tell you upfront and you pay nothing.

I'm an expat / work at ASML — can I just mail it in?▸

Absolutely. We're in Veldhoven, five minutes from the ASML campus — drop-off by appointment, or send your drive as a letterbox parcel with Track & Trace from anywhere in the Netherlands. We support you in English via WhatsApp at +31 6 86 42 34 54.

Which brands do you repair?▸

All brands and form factors: Samsung, WD, Crucial, Kingston, SK hynix, ADATA and more — M.2 NVMe (PCIe), mSATA and 2.5-inch SATA.

How long does a repair take?▸

Usually 1–3 working days after arrival. You get the diagnosis result, the exact cost and the return date in one message — before we proceed.
